(China Daily) Chinese e-commerce giant JD hopes to serve 1.5 billion consumers and 10 million enterprises across the globe with its intelligent supply chain over the next 10 years, reduce inventory turnover days by 30 percent and cut social logistics costs to less than 10 percent, said Liao Jianwen, the company’s chief strategy officer.

Liao made the remarks at JD Discovery, the company’s largest tech event for the year, on Wednesday in Beijing. “We aim to decrease carbon emissions by 50 percent in 2030 compared with 2019, so as to promote sustainable consumption,” Liao added.

He explained the intelligent supply chain will use digital and intelligent technology to connect and optimize each link of social production, circulation and services, as well as reduce social costs and improve efficiency.

Zhou Bowen, chairman of the technology committee at JD and president of JD Cloud & AI said by 2030, all enterprises will become technology enterprises. “The transformation of industrial and digital intelligence represented by artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, Internet of things and other technologies is the biggest certainty and opportunity at present.”

JD has also announced the establishment of a research institute which will focus on AI, quantum computing, data science, engineering and management, decentralized computing, ethics, science and art.

The company reported its net revenues for the third quarter of this year reached 174.2 billion yuan ($25.7 billion), an increase of 29.2 percent compared with the same period last year. It will continue to invest in technology and infrastructure to enhance its user experience.
