A young Chinese vlogger posted an interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook on the night of February  19, which quickly became a hot topic among local Internet users and made the Hot Topics list on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

The vlogger, whose channel name is “@老师好我叫何同学”, which means “Hello teacher, I am student He”, is a senior college student majoring in communication engineering and management at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

He has posted videos on Bilibili, the Chinese equivalent of YouTube, and has accumulated over 100 million video views and over 6.7 million followers.

In the interview, Cook said that many features of Apple devices are inspired by Chinese consumers, such as the night mode and the QR code mode in the camera.

Apple listens very carefully to the needs of Chinese users and develops features based on that and spreads them to the world, according to Cook.

Cook believes that 2020 was Apple’s top year of innovation ever, whether it’s for the iPhone, the Apple Watch, the iPad, or the M1 chip.

The vlogger, whose real name is He Shijie, is still making videos in his spare time as of now.

However, the latest information showed that he has registered a company with 8 categories of business including sales of advertising, education, and entertainment.

He also released a “Time Lock” app in the Android app market earlier this year to help his fans reduce screen time on their phones.

Users can add other apps in their phones to Time Lock’s monitoring list. Whenever the user opens these applications, the “Time Lock” will require the user to enter an expected time of use, the application will not be used after the expected time, until the user exits and opens the app again.
